    Trooper V. E. Smale, whose address was given as Piopio in yesterday s list, is a Gisborne boy, twin son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Smale. lie was educated in Gisborne, and later entered the employ of the Post and Telegrapn Department, where he was working when called up for Territorial service in 1941. He was later selected for the training cadre, and eventually gained a Territorial commission, which he surrendered last year to proceed overseas with the l0th Reinforcement to the Middle East. He was well known in Rugby football and wrestling circles, prior to his going into the army. His departure for overseas service was delayed owing to his age. Trooper Smale having reached 21 years only shortly before he transferred to the reinforcement pool. His wife, formerly Miss A. Webb, Piopio, is left with one infant son. My goal is to come see you in Italy, I would not feel complete with out travelling over there! I love you so much, just know how much your son loves and talks about you,. You would be very proud of him and he is so knowledgeable on a lot of things! If you were anything like my koro, I know I would of loved you so much! SEE YOU IN ITALY xx
