  • Douglas MacKenzie was the son of James and Catherine MacKenzie (nee Young). He was educated at Utiku School. He married Vala Baker at Ohakune. The children were: Nala 1923 (later Mrs Stoddard), Gordon 1926, Ronald 1928, Allan 1930, Neil 1932 and Robert 1942.

    Brother of Kenneth (34108) and Duncan (38204) who also served in WW1

    He spent three months after war finished in the occupation of Germany. He drove a horse and cart supply wagon to collect supplies and rations for the troops.

    His total service overseas 2 years and 145 days. He trained in New Zealand 148 days. AWMM
