    • James Johnstone was the son of Robert Edwin and Lily Johanna Johnstine (nee Thornhill). He was the husband of Elsie Adelaide Johnstone of Morrinsville.

    • James Johnstone was the son of Robert Edwin and Lily Johanna Johnstone (nee Thornhill). He had 13 siblings: Helena, Ethel, Anne, Robert, Leslie, William, Lily, Mavis, Gladys, Joyce, Joy, Owen and Claire. James married Elsie Adelaide Denny of Morrinsville shortly before he set off for World War II. He never came home and his body has never been recovered. His name appears on his parents headstone in the family plot at Eastern Cemetery, Invercargill.
