  • Son of George Richard and Gertrude Dagmar Gould Medhurst, of Auckland

    Attended King's College 1929-33 where he was a member of Parnell House. He was a keen rugby player and played for the school, Auckland University and the Harlequins (UK). He was also a member of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.

    He enlisted while in the United Kingdom and trained as a fighter-pilot and he was attached to Fleet Air Arm.

    Peter died at sea. He was a passenger with his girlfriend aboard the Laconia which was sunk by torpedo 12 September 1942. Peter, his girlfriend and 65 others were aboard a lifeboat and suffered terribly from thirst. All but 16 perished. AWMM
