  • Son of George and Florence Lavinia McKenzie; husband of Thelma Olive McKenzie, of Riccarton, Canterbury, New Zealand.

    Married, 1 daughter at embarkation

His widow says that she 'did not know of her husband's embarkation as we were not told of the time or the day. The first she heard of her husband's embarkation was when the Major of Christchurch came to inform me that my husband had already sailed. Naturally I was devastated as my husband had written to me to meet him at the station with my little girl as he had been chosen to go into the Officers Training School and would be here for another six months. I am afraid the wives in those days were treated very poorly.'

Injured by sniper bullet at El Alamein. AWMM
