  • After six weeks in England Cliff was sent to France on 11 February 1917 and joined the 1 Battalion, Wellington Regiment.

    Cliff fell ill with influenza towards the end of June 1918. He did not recover quickly so was sent to England for further treatment. He died en route on board the H.S. 'Grantully Castle' on 7 July 1918. (Church, p.149) AWMM
