    According to family, he worked his way to England as a carpenter onboard the Westmoreland (ship). On 7 August 1917, the bullet was removed from the spine at Brockenhurst Hospital.

    Cremated -ashes scattered in Otago Harbour, opposite his birth place. AWMM
