      Gun shot wound to left knee involving the joint (17.4.18)- admitted to hospital in Rouen and to 1NZGH., Brockenhurst. GSW was found to be self-inflicted as a result of negligent handling of the fire arm and received 21 days forfeit of pay.. At the time he was thought to be permanently unfit for further military service and joint may require amputation to thigh. It was therefore recommended that he be evacuated to England and embarked for NZ on HS Maheno on 28 August 1918. AWMM
