      Two sons, brothers served in WW1: Eric Albert Coates (11/643) and Randolph Edward Oswald Coates (12/59) dow.

  • As the great niece of Randolph I have the utmost respect for his sacrifice and also his brother Eric who also served and came home to be a victim of the great influenza epidemic. Their Aunt is still alive at the age of 97 in a Resthome in Napier.
