  • Keith Newman was the son of Ralph Newman and of Edith Mabel Newman (nee Clotworthy), of Kamo, Whangarei, New Zealand.

Keith Allan Francis was the eldest son of Mrs E.M. Newman of Kamo.

Keith A.F was born in Kamo. Educated at Kamo and Ngararatuna schools.

Before enlisting was employed for some years by the North Auckland Electric Power Board.

Keenly interested in territorial work for many years, he actually volunteered for service before enlistments were called. He trained at Burnham and went overseas with the First Echelon as a machine gunner.

Of a quiet, home-loving disposition, Private Newman, as the eldest of three sons, assisted his mother in bringing up the family after the death of his father nearly seven years before his death. Mrs Newman’s second son, Private S Newman is also on active service in Egypt.

Next of kin details compiled from information in the Casualty lists published in the newspapers. AWMM
