    SS Napier Star was torpedoed and sunk by German submarine U100 (Commanded by Schepke) in the Atlantic 321 miles from Rockall, in position 58 58 north 23 113 west. SS Napier Star was on government service and sailing independently on a voyage from Liverpool to New Zealand via the Panama Canal. The ship was carrying 16 passengers and 8200 tons of general cargo. The Master (Captain William Walsh), 67 crew and 11 passengers were lost. 14 crew, 1 gunner and five passengers were rescued by a Swedish ship and landed at Liverpool AWMM
