Men from Charlie troop, Royal NZ Signals Regt, laying telephone cable in Korea. New Zealand. Department of Internal Affairs. War History Branch :Photographs relating to World War 1914-1918, World War 1939-1945, occupation of Japan, Korean War, and Malayan Emergency. Original caption in album PA1-q-315 reads: "Charlie troop, Royal N.Z. Signal Regt, attached to 1st Commonwealth Signals, laying cable through a dispenser to form a snake of 5 wires. Pulling the 'snake' to the next post is: Sig. A L Philip of Cambridge, N.Z. while Sig, D N [Ngatai ?] of Tauranga, N.Z. guides it through the dispenser. The man in charge of the cable drums is: L/Cpl R. Rigg, of Twickingham, Eng. In one year Div Sigs have laid 10,000 miles of cable. 600 hundred [sic] miles of cable are in use and maintained by Div.Sigs. at present."
