  • On the 70th anniversary of VE day, as one of your few remaining English relatives, I want to express my deep gratitude for your ultimate sacrifice on behalf of the freedom of the United Kingdom, and to pay this tribute to a cousin I never knew except through the loving memories of Hilbre Mary Skinner (née Ledger), my mother, and Mary Ledger (née Garland) my grandmother who gave him the comforts of home while he was stationed in England. You will never be forgotten.
