  • Daniel McAleese was the son of John McAleese and of Catherine McAleese (nee Connolly), of Burnside, Otago, New Zealand.

    Born in Ireland and moved to New Zealand in 1925, attented Christian Brothers High School, Dunedin, member of the First 15, and Dux in 1935. On enlistment was working as a clerk with Radio 4ZB. AWMM
