    • Robert McBride was the son of George McBride, and of Florence Isobel McBride (nee Beddell), of Auckland, New Zealand; husband of Dora Annie McBride, of Woburn, Wellington, New Zealand. AWMM
    • His father George worked for his father - George William McBride of Mount Albert, who owned a chain of tailors shops in Auckland, Waihi, the South Island and Hawera. His mother Florence McBride was chairman of the Auckland Education Board and received an MBE for her services to education. Beddell is also spelt Beedell and as far as I can ascertain, the Beedells owned a brewery in Auckland. Karl Ifwerson the early All Black is closely related to Florence's family. • I wonder how my world might have been different had I ever known you. My father always spoke of you (his brother) with such affection, and I see in your face some of the characteristics of my own brother. I will always regret not knowing you.
