ONE OF FOUR BROTHERS WHO HAVE ENLISTED
The late Mr Francis Maurice (Peter) McFarlane, who was of a very genial disposition, was well known in Nelson. Seven years ago he joined the staff of J. H. Cack and Co. and later the Anchor Shipping and Foundry Co., Ltd. He married the elder daughter of Mrs J. Rogers, of Stoke, and this week it was intended to celebrate an anniversary of the wedding. He was born in Napier and spent his boyhood days in Auckland, Nelson and at Dunedin, where he was an Old Boy of the Otago Bovs’ High School. The late Mr McFarlane commenced his flying career as a member of the Nelson Aero Club. He was a nephew of Mr and Mrs A. R. Dyson. The late Mr McFarlane’s three brothers are also serving or waiting to serve, his eldest brother has been in the R A.F since 1936 and of his two younger brothers, one is a sergeant in the First Echelon and the other enlisted in the Airforce some months ago and is awaiting his turn to be called up.
