    • Alexander McLaughlin did not attend Auckland Grammar School as either a student or a teacher.
The reference to A. McLaughlen (note spelling) on the WW2 School War Memorial is to an Arthur McLaughlen, who entered the School in 1912, served in WW1 and survived and lived well past the end of WW2. This name is an error and will be removed from the School Memorial. Public - Peter - Researcher - 9 June 2020 - Below are the contents of my email reply to a Bryan Johnston ( who enquired about Alexander McLaughlin, a WW2 RNZAF airman who was buried in Northern Ireland in 1944. He had found an A. Mclaughlen on our School War Memorial and thought he was that man.

In Summary: The A. McLaughlen on the Auckland Grammar War Memorial is Arthur, not your Alexander, but anyway, appears to be wrong. Flight Sergeant Alexander McLaughlin RNZAF 422972 did not attend Auckland Grammar and was probably educated in Antrim, coming to New Zealand in 1938/9, where he eventually enlisted in the RNZAF. The Auckland War Memorial records for Flight Sergeant Alexander McLaughlin RNZAF 422972 are incorrect and I will let them know.

Researching Flight Sergeant Alexander McLaughlin RNZAF 422972, has shown a number of errors.

      1. An "A. McLaughlen" is indeed shown on the Auckland Grammar WW2 Memorial.

      2. There is no record of an "A. McLaughlen" or any spelling variant in the original
