  • Born Hamiora Moeke aka Sam Moeke Samuel Moeke married Wahine Ngaro Roa Mate Ki Te Whenua Houia aka (Shine) and had 5 Children- Rangi Puano Moeke, Kessie Hinekehu Moeke, Tau Korea Moeke, Hana Mariea Gerrard and Hine Moeke. Originally from Hiruharama on the East Coast of the North island near the small rural community of Ruatorea/Ruatoria and is of the Ngati Porou iwi. His parents were Renata Waera Moeke and Heni Matekino Haereroa nee (Heni Wenewene). He returned home to his whanau after the war as opposed to dying in Africa as previously stated on this site but peacefully passed away 11/07/1976.
