William Moffat, M.L.C., and of Kathleen Moffat (nee McGline or McGlone), of Palmerston North"Was at school [Palmerston North Boys High School & Sacred Heart College] 1935-36, leaving school to enter the firm of C.M. Ross Co. Ltd. He was a well-known member of the Manawatu Golf Club and the P.N. Zennie Club. Joining the Air Force in 1941, he completed his training in N.Z. and proceeded to England, where after a short course he was posted to the Mediterranean theatre. He completed over 100 practical flights with a spitfire squadron. In July 1945 he was reported killed on air operations. " Palmerston North City Archives, I.R.
