    • Richard Collins was the son of Alberton H. and Helen M. A. Collins, of Glenfield Rd., Birkenhead, Auckland, New Zealand. AWMM
    • Richard's mother Helen Collins is buried at Birkenhead Cemetery, Eskdale Rd, Glenfield, Anglican Section, Block 1, plot 150. Unsure where Richard's father is buried. Remembering the struggles of raising many children in a time where there was no government financial assistance, the Collins family suffered financial strain as several children were noted as being in the Auckland Industrial School per newspaper article LAW AND POLICE. New Zealand Herald, Volume XL, Issue 12305, 24 June 1903. Maintenance Cases: Alberton Horace Collins was ordered to pay 5s a week towards the support of each of his two children, who are inmates of the Auckland Industrial School. Another article indicates some the Collins children not attending school, LAW AND POLICE.
