  • Son of Alexander Neil and of Eve Neil (nee Stevenson), of Auckland

    Eve Neil lost both of her sons, her only children in WW2. A relative writes "One of my mother's Stevenson aunts was Mrs. Eve Neil. She had two sons, her only children, both were killed in the Second World War. She and her husband Alexander Neil lived in Auckland for most of their married life and the sons grew up in Auckland. Her younger son, Irvine Neil (1321), was killed while serving as an engineer with the 2nd NZEF in Egypt and her older son, Squadron Leader William Alexander Stevenson Neil (118473) serving in the RAFVR as a pilot was killed while over Germany."
