  • William Nicholson was the son of Cecil Nicholson, and of Edith Margaret Nicholson (nee Imins), of Okaihau, New Zealand.

    Was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs C. Nicholson of Okaihau. He was born in Okaihau and educated at Waimate North and Kaikohe District High School.

    On leaving school he took up carpentry in the the Bay of Island. On going overseas towards the latter part of 1944, he was drafted into the 21st battalion of the Middle East Forces and was in the early stages of the 8th Army's new offensive on the Italian front when he was killed in action.
