  • An old relative of mine in Canada heard the crash and next day saw the bodies brought in, and then tended the graves for the rest of her life. I have a letter that relatives might like. Those killed in the crash were Arthur Dennison Marshall RNZAF 422303, Dudley John Opie/Opey, 414911, and Alexander Balfour Spence 425001 "On this flight there was one Canadian civilian pilot, and three New Zealand airmen. The names of the three were Flight Sergeant Dudley John Opey, son of Charles and Katherine Opey of Te Kuiti, Auckland. He was 20 years old. L.A.C. Arthur Dennison Marshall, only son of James Wylie and Sarah Antoine Marshall, Half Moon Bay, Stewart Island. He was 31 years old. L.A.C. Alexander Balfour Spence, husband of Margaret Josephine Spence of Davenport, Auckland, and son of George and Mary Spence. He was 32 years old. They are buried in the Hillside Cemetery at Potage La Prairie,"
