  • Ernest Claud Cook is my Great, Great Uncle along with Austin Dwyer Cook (KIA Galipoli) brother to my Grandfather Walter Stanley Cook who also served in WW1 but returned home to Maungakaramea without his brothers. Our family cherishes their memory for their sacrifice and service.
Special sincere thank you to the Maungakaramea community who pay their respects every ANZAC Day and care for the memorial of my family's Great Uncles. Forever cherished xxxx

  • Each year the Maungakaramea Community remembers both Austin Dwyer and Ernest Cook at their ANZAC service. A cross is placed in front of the monument for them along with 13 others, and their names are called out and a flower is placed by their cross by local school children. We will remember them also.
