    • Frank Pennington was the son of Ernest Edward and Grace Ann Pennington of Karori, Wellington.

      Killed in air accident off Ceylon.

    • "For good services in the attack of Salerno, Temporary Lieutenant (A.) Frank Athol Joseph Pennington, D.S.C., that won a bar to that cross. Advice of the King's approval of the award has been received from the Admiralty by the Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones). Lieutenant Pennington, who was recently awarded the D.S.C. for good service in the destruction of enemy aircraft, was born on August 17, 1916, and entered the Royal Navy on July 8, 1940. He was promoted to commissioned rank in the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve on May 17, 1941.
      His next-of-kin is his mother, Mrs. G. A. Pennington, 44 Messines Road, Karori, Wellington."
