  • Leslie Pester was the son of Edward Thomas Pester and of Gertrude Pester (nee Barwell), of St. Albans, Christchurch, New Zealand.

    An article in the Western Leader, 27 October 2011, p. 7 mentions the diary of Douglas Strid, a member of 24 Battalion, who wrote in his war time diary about the death of eight of his colleagues on 1 January 1945 and their burials. AWMM
