  • Educated at the Whau Valley School and the Whangarei Boys' High School, Draper was employed on a Maromaku farm up to the time of entering the camp. He took an active interest in various sports.

    A member of J. Force, Trooper Draper had entered Papakura Camp on March 7, where his elder brother was also a member.

    He was killed by a hand grenade which exploded in a trench during a practice at the Ardmore Rifle Range.

    The was the first fatal accident at the Papakura Camp through the use of explosives or other weapons.

    He had a full military funeral service. AWMM
