  • George Robinson was the son of Alfred Ernest Robinson and of Mary Ann Robinson (nee Bidois), of Waihi. His mother was the sole benficiary of his will and received his medals and the memorial cross.

    Husband of Mrs M.J.V. Robinson, legally separated at the time of his enlistment. His wife and two children under 16 years of age were living in Auckland. His former wife applied for a service gratuity indicating financial hardship.

    Attested 8 November 1940. Marched into Trentham 27 November 1940, promoted to temporary Corporal

    Entered Egypt 25 March 1941

    Reverts to ranks, Sapper, at own request September 1941

    Punished for insubordinate language, and neglecting to obey camp guards November 1941, 14 days field punishment

    Punished again, for being out of bounds, stealing, using a vehicle November 1942, 28 days field punishment.
