      "This officer has completed 182 operational flying hours and 21 sorties. he has proved an ideal captain and has done outstanding work. He has attacked Berlin on four occasions, each time displaying outstanding skill, determination and gallantry in successfullly pressing home his attacks despite severe damage sustained at times by his aircraft. On the night of the 17th April 1941, he ran into a fierce barrage of anti-aircraft fire and searchlight concetrations on the outskirts of Berlin. Despite his attempts to run on his target, he was forced so low that he was unsuccessful and had ro turn away.     • Father - Yugoslavian, mother English. Had 1 sister and two younger brothers.

      Flight Lieutenant Simich was shot down on the night of 26/27 July 1942 and was taken as a Prisoner of War. While serving with the 75 Squadron Flight Lieutenant Simich and Flight Sergeant Baird were carrying out an Air Test and Low flying exercise when the aircraft crashed into the sea, after failing to recover from a low level slow roll over Himatangi Beach.
