    The Auckland Museum Library's manuscripts collection contains a diary (MS 2005/21) kept by John Alfred Monstedt (24030), Auckland Infantry Regiment, that mentions Frew along with 10 other men who were part of No. 3 Auckland Gun Team, 2nd NZ Machine Gun Company.
