  • Dear Grandfather, I never knew you, but I know quite a lot about you. I know you were a young and typically red-blooded male. I know you were in a situation you couldn't control. I know you went to Gallipoli and were wounded twice, then sent to France where your final injuries destroyed the few years that remained of your life. I wish you could have known that I would one day exist and that, just as I have not forgotten my other grandfather, I will not forget you. Love, Rose
