    Embarked Wellington, 18 March 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 2 May 1917, and marched in to 2nd Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, Sling Camp.
    Proceeded overseas to france, 6 June 1917; joined 2nd Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 26 June 1917.
    Wounded in action, 4 October 1917 (gun shot wound wound, left hip and head: severe), admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to No 3 Australian Casualty Clearing Station ('dangerously ill'); to 7th General Hospital, St Omer, 5 October 1917; removed from 'dangerously ill' list, 5 March 1918; to England, 5 March 1918, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 7 March 1918.
    Classified 'unfit' and placed on NZ Roll.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Avonmouth on board SS 'Marama', 6 April 1918; discharged (no longer physically fit war War Service on account of wounds received in action), 13 May 1919.
    Total war service: 2 years 209 days (of which 1 year 88 days was abroad)
