  • Harold Andrews was the son of Mary Letitia Andrews, of 26, Rodrigu Rd., Kilbirnie, Wellington, and the late Edgar James Andrews. One of his brothers, Edgar William Andrews (3/968), also served.

    Embarked Wellington, 16 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 29 December 1916, marched into Sling Camp and reverted to Temporary Corporal.
    Promoted Corporal (having qualified at course of instruction), 2 February 1917.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 29 February 1917.
    Joined 2nd Bn and posted to 10th Company, in the field, 30 March 1917.
    Appointed Lance Sergeant, 12 June 1917.
    Killed in action, 15 June 1917.
