    .MR C LE- F. YOUNG. 'Charles Le Fanu Young. Headmaster of Christ's College Lower School, died at his parents' residence. Merivale. yesterday. Mr Young though on the youthful side of 30. was a man of considerable attainments, and gave every promise of rising high in the educational profession. He was educated at the Palmerston North Boys' .High .School, and later was a student at Canterbury College, where he obtained his B.A. degree. He enlisted for service in the war in the Pioneer Battalion with the rank of captain, and saw service in Egypt and France, and was a lecturer in the Army School. He suffered Gas poisoning. On returning to New Zealand about two years ago he resumed his studies at Canterbury College, and obtained his B.Sc. degree. About a year ago he was appointed headmaster of Christ's College Lower .School. He .proved himself an able teacher. Before and .since his return from the war he took a promin'ent part in outdoor sport;. He was a captain of the Canterbury College first fifteen, and represented Canterbury in cricket. He seemed to recover from the gas poisoning, ar.d up to recently was in good health, but for the last few weeks his health was critical, ' and! he died yesterday morning as the result of a haemorrhage.
