    Campaigns in the Western Front probably Messines and Passchendaele

    After his service on the Western Front he was sent back to New Zealand with traumatic neurasthemia.

    After WWI he married and raised 8 children (6 sons and 2 daughters).

    In WWII he enlisted in the New Zealand Army, at 52 years and was drafted to the 11th Heavy Regiment, NZ Artillery stationed in Timaru.

    On 17 January 1944 a 100 lb shell fell on his chest. He suffered chest pains for the rest of his life and eventually died of a heart attack. The Army declined any liability. AWMM
