      Two sons, brothers were killed in WW2: George Ivan Ellis (NZ414269) and Charles Raymond Ellis (NZ422379).

      There is a reference to Ivan Ellis in the diary of Sergeant Pilot Raymond Herbert John Broady (NZ39691), November, 1942. [Ref. MS 883]

    • Stirling BK698 OJ-O of 149 Sqn was believed shot down by a Ju.88C-6 flown by Oblt Günter Koeberich, Uffz Walter Heidenrich & Fw Walter Kramell of II./NJG 3. Aircraft crashed into the sea west of Esbjerg and Ringkøbing, during a raid against Rostock.
