  • Daughter of Christina and George Campbell.

Two daughters, sisters, Christina Campbell (22/311) and Margaret Campbell (22/316) served in WW1.

An unidentified obituary in an Auckland Library Scrapbook reads: "Miss Christina Campbell, Work in Great War". Though the death of Miss Christina Campbell which occurred in Auckland last Wednesday, the nursing profession suffered a severe loss. Miss Campbell who received her general training at Thames Hospital served for over three years in the Great War, in England and France with the New Zealand Army Nursing Service. On her return, she undertook further specialised training and for some years past was on the staff of the Child Welfare Department, being due to retire shortly. Prior to the internment at Hillsborough Cemetery on Friday afternoon , a service was held at St. David's Church, Khyber Pass, where over forty members of the Returned Army Nursing Sisters Association formed a guard of honour as the cortege left the church. Miss Campbell had a wide circle of friends throughout the North Island by whom she was held in great esteem.

Miss Campbell is survived by her sister Miss Elsie Campbell, who has been long associated with Sister Esther in social work in Auckland."

Service number on her headstone is incorrectly recorded as 22/315 AWMM
