    Commanded 2nd Contingent, promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel; commanded 3rd Mounted Infantry Corps and Bushmen's Brigade under Major-General Paget. Mentioned in despatches (2). In WWI commanded 2nd King Edward's Horse. Awarded CMG in 1916.Mentioned for Meritorius Service in Lord Roberts despatches dated 2/4/1901.

    1913 : Published Diary of Second New Zealand Mounted Rifles: On Active Service in South Africa 24 Feb 1901- 21 March 1901; 1 April- 8 May 1901.

    WWI: Served in France 1915-1918. Commanded the 2nd King Edward Horse

    Educated in Richmond, Yorkshire, England.
