  • Son of James Dawson, Stationer and Printer and Hannah nee Dawson.

    Husband of Marion Gertrude Florence nee Mitchell

    Born in Britain, he came to NZ at the age of 19 as a farm cadet. Later was a farmer at Waotu, near Putaruru.

    Served overseas 1 year 96 days.

    He married Miss Marion Gertrude Florence Mitchell in 1913, she died in 1965.

    Auckland Museum Boer War "New Zealand Mounted Rifles" Display. The items on display are a flask, pewter cup and a watch."The flask, with pewter cup , was a farewell gift to Trooper Roger Dawson of 1 NZMR, while the watch was presented to him on his return by his Te Awamutu friends"

    In 1935 he resided in Te Awamutu, College Street and was very involved in local affairs such as the Building Society , the Te Awamutu Club, and Lodge Waipa. AWMM
