    "The Venerable John Arthur Lush died at Invercargill on September 8, 1964, aged 82 years. Educated in England at Sherborne College and Cambridge, he first came to New Zealand in 1908, was ordained at Durham Cathedral in 1911, and returned to New Zealand as vicar of Havelock North. After serving as chaplain overseas during the First World War, he returned to Havelock North until 1921 when he was appointed to St. John's Parish, Invercargill, becoming Archdeacon in 1933."
