Member of the New Zealand Alpine Club: "Dr H. Turner Jennings, a well known Christchurch obstetrician and gynaecologist, died on 24th July, 1968, aged 65. He had been closely associated with St Helen's Hospital from 1933, and was superintendent from 1962 till 1967.

Born the second son of D.H. Jennings of Oamaru, he was educated at Waitaki Boys' High School and graduated from Otago University in 1925 as M.B., Ch.B., and at Edinburgh as F.R.C.S. Later he was made a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. It was as a medical student that Dr H. T. Jennings first made the acquaintance of Fiordland. During the long Christmas vacation of 1920 he joined a party of surveyors working in the Lake Hauroko area. During the next vacation, 1921-22, he was a member of Dan McKenzie's party which erected the first Falls Creek bridge in Upper Hollyford Valley.

Later, in professional practice, he joined the Territorial 3rd Field Ambulance, and at the outbreak of war he was attached to the 2nd General Hospital, Egypt, later the 4th Field Ambulance, and finally the N.Z.
