  • Nurse Redstone made her own way to South Africa with Margaret Carston. Later,

    She received her medal for service in the Boer War from King Edward VII in London.

    She married Captain Wallace Wilcox of the Merchant Navy, he was a second officer on "Dunera" , a wartime transport ship.

    Auckland War Memorial Museum,Tāmaki Paenga Hira, holds her Queen's South Africa Medal 1899-1902 (ACCESSION NUMBER2001.25.858) AWMM
