  • Francis Hinton was the son of Thomas and Ellen Elizabeth Hinton, of Eureka, Waikato, New Zealand.

    He was killed in a training accident at 51 Training Depot Station (37th Wing, Training Division) with the Royal Air Force. Hinton piloted an Avro 504K F8719 which crashed while making a left hand turn close to the ground after engine failure. AWMM
