Kia orana e toku Papa. So sad that I never got to see you or touch you. So sad I never got to say hello, Papa George. But when I was young, I cleaned and painted your grave stone every year during the tutaka at the Cook Island Christian Church at Avarua, Rarotonga. I am named after you. My father is Takau George Karika, your son. I am so proud of you. You are my hero, Sgt Pa George Karika. Makea Pa George Karika. Tēnā koe. Aroha.
My family and I are very proud of you uncle George and I am sure that all of Ngati Karika are proud of you too. You have given of yourself so unreservedly for our freedom, a tribute that we will always treasure and pass on to the next generation(s). May our Lord keep and guide us in all our endeavours.
