  • I am researching Sarah Louise Clark to see if she had any connection to the Clark family of Hobsonville as I am organising a display on Nurses from West Auckland who served in WWI for April 2016. I was very interested to find out on the NZ Military Nursing website that Sarah Clark was in the First Fifty Nurses who left for Egypt on the 8 April 1915 escorted by Matron-in-Chief of Army Nursing Hester McLean and am in awe at the challenges and working conditions that Sarah and all of the NZ nurses met and overcame during their service to their country in WWI. Sarah was awarded a Royal Red Cross. It would be great to know the date and the act for which she was awarded this medal. Her next-of-kin, her parents, are listed as living in Epsom but the Clark family is well-known in west Auckland so I will keep on researching to see if Sarah Clark's extended family may be from out west.
