  • Husband of Mabel Constance (Connie) nee Deane

    Emigrated to New Zealand in 1911 aged 29, after three years in Rangoon, Burma as a meat inspector.

    He married Connie on the 29 August 1915 in Zeitoun Camp. The couple were presented with a wedding gift from the farrier staff of the Auckland Mounted Rifles of a table cloth of Egyptian workmanship with the regimental crest worked in the centre.

    During WW1 he served in New Zealand 80 days and overseas 4 years 281 days, total service 4 years 281 days.

    In WW2 he served at Waiouru May 1941, at Auckland Headquarters until about July 1944.

    Details of service in WW2 partially redacted in his service record. Whilst he is listed at embarkation as Veterinary Corps his service number prefix is 13/ for the Auckland Mounted Rifles not the 17/ for the NZ Army Veterinary Corps. AWMM
