  • Daughter of Alexander Ker and May Wadsworth Knott, she was the eldest daughter in a family of eleven.

    Trained at Southland Hospital, graduating 1929. Maternity training at Whakatane, 1935 and Midwifery training at St Helens, Wellington, 1936.

    After graduating Ker spent thirteen years at Southland hospital as Sister. She was also in charge of Public Works camps near Gisborne. In the Army she was assistant Matron on some tours and nursed at Castle Buchanan, a military hospital, while the Maunganui was in dock at Glasgow.

    Official citation "Charge-sister Ker rendered excellent service, her efficiency, bearing and devotion to duty being of a very high standard." AWMM
