    • Bartlett was promoted to the rank of Captain while in South Africa. Returned to New Zealand in January 1901.

      In 1901 he was appointed to local Board of Examiners for Officers for Commissions in New Zealand Volunteer Forces for Taranaki. (Stowers, p.146)

      Enlisted in the North Island Regiment Staff 8 NZMR as Major. He departed from Auckland aboard the S.S. 'Surrey' on the 1 February 1902.

      Bartlett settled in South Africa and farmed a property called 'Reipfontein' of 2,000 acres near Elandsfontein in 1902. (Stowers, p.146)

      Bartlett also served in World War One with the South Africa Forces.

      Justice of the Peace.

      His father was named William Bartlett. AWMM
    • Son Harry Bartlett (Service number 9292) served in the South African Infantry and was killed in action on 9 April 1917. Public - Bruce - Researcher - 9 February 2016 - CWGC
