  • Rogers was an Officer in the Royal Marine Light Infantry and later the 12 and 16 Lancers. While in the Royal Marine Light Infantry he was at the battle of McNeil's Zareba and also in the Sudan War. (Stowers, p.148)

    Returned to New Zealand on the S.S. 'Orient' but later joined the 8 NZMR as Brigade Sergeant Major and departed for South Africa on the S.S. 'Surrey' in February 1902. AWMM
