  • Husband of Camilla Harrowell nee Steele (22/410)]. Father of Dudley Steele Harrowell (50760)] who was killed in WW2.

    Harrowell joined the Provisional Transvaal Constabulary in June 1900. He returned to New Zealand aboard the S.S 'Harleck Castle' but rejoined the 7 NZMR as Captain, 21 Company, departing from Wellington in June 1901 aboard the S.S. 'Gulf of Taranto'.

    Served as a Captain with the 21 Company Seventh Contingent

    Assistant Military Secretary to the Commissioner (3 Auckland Regiment, Samoa Garrison), Samoa with the rank Major 1917
